SpongeBob SquarePants

SpongeBob SquarePants (often referred to simply as SpongeBob) is an American animated television series, created by marine biologist and animator Stephen Hillenburg. Much of the series centers on the exploits and adventures of the title character and his various friends in the underwater city "Bikini Bottom". The series' popularity has prompted the release of a media franchise, contributing to its position as Nickelodeon's highest rated show, the most distributed property of MTV Networks, and among Nicktoons' most-watched shows.[2]

The basis for SpongeBob SquarePants was formed by Hillenburg in 1984 while teaching and studying marine biology at the Ocean Institute in Dana Point, California, where he wrote the comic strip The Intertidal Zone, which starred various anthropomorphic forms of sea life, many of which would evolve into SpongeBob SquarePants characters. He left the institute to become an animator in 1987, and later attended the California Institute of Arts in 1992. In the institute, he made his thesis film Wormholes (1992), which led to his hiring as a director, writer, producer, storyboard artist, and executive producer of the series Rocko's Modern Life by creator Joe Murray. He started to develop the series in 1996 following Rocko's Modern Life's, and pitched the series to Nickelodeon in 1998 and was later greenlit for a first season.

The pilot episode of SpongeBob SquarePants first aired episodes in the United States on Nickelodeon on May 1, 1999, following the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards. The first episodes were called "Help Wanted", "Reef Blower", "Tea at the Treedome". The "official" series premiere followed on July 17, 1999, with the second episode, "Bubblestand/Ripped Pants." The show reached enormous popularity by 2000 and has remained popular since. A feature film of the series was released in theaters on November 19, 2004. The series is currently in its seventh season and celebrated its tenth anniversary on July 17, 2009. SpongeBob was renewed for a ninth season on January 3, 2011,[3] and the traditional definition of season is different for this series and defines more that episodes are ordered for future airing rather than they will be aired throughout one calendar year.

Dynamic Duo

For sure all familiar with these couple, friends, siblings, and even life-time foes who made our entertainment world more colorful. Some of them are newcomers, while the others have been around for more than 50 years! They have one thing in common: either partner is OK by him/herself, but they're better when they're together. Here they are from the most senior to the most junior.

1. Mickey and Mouse and Minnie Mouse
In 1928 these cartoon characters were created by Walt Disney Ub Werks as Michael Mouse and Minerva Mouse before they got their short names Mickey and Minnie. Walt Disney was the first person to voice Mickey.

2. Tom and Jerry
This never-ending rivalry between a cat (Tom) and a mouse (Jerry)was created by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera for Metro-Glodwyn-Mayer. They launched this home movie back in 1940. It got several awards, including seven Academy Awards for Animated Short Movie. This cat and mouse team was also recognized as one of the longest-living rivalries in cinema. Tom and Jerry inspired Itchy and Scratchy, a TV in the Simpsons

3. Upin and Ipin
This popular Malaysian animated television series which began airing in 2007. A production of Les'Copaque Productions, this series features the life and adventures of the twin brothers Upin and Ipin, whose parents have passed away and who live with their older sister, Ros, and their grandma. Every episode depicts Upin and Ipin's adventures in Kampung Durian Runtuh.

DORAEMON (ドラえもん?)[3]

Doraemon (ドラえもん?)[3] is a Japanese manga series created by Fujiko F. Fujio (the pen name of Hiroshi Fujimoto) which later became an anime series and an Asian franchise. The series is about an earless robotic cat named Doraemon, who travels back in time from the 22nd century to aid a schoolboy, Nobita Nobi (野比 のび太, Nobi Nobita?).

The series first appeared in December 1969, when it was published simultaneously in six different magazines. In total, 1,344 stories were created in the original series, which are published by Shogakukan under the Tentōmushi (てんとう虫?) manga brand, extending to forty-five volumes. The volumes are collected in the Takaoka Central Library in Toyama, Japan, where both Fujiko Fujio were born. Viz Media bought the license to the Doraemon manga in the 1990s for an English-language release, but canceled it without explanation. However, Doraemon: Nobita's Dinosaur 2006 (The 26th film in the franchise) got a private screening in Washington D.C. in November 2008.

A majority of Doraemon episodes are comedies with lessons regarding values such as integrity, perseverance, courage, family and respect for elders. Several noteworthy environmental issues are often visited, including homeless animals, global warming, endangered species, deforestation, and pollution. Miscellaneous educational topics such as dinosaurs, the flat Earth theory, wormhole traveling, Gulliver's Travels, and the history of Japan are often covered.

Doraemon was awarded the Japan Cartoonists Association Award for excellence in 1973. Doraemon was awarded the first Shogakukan Manga Award for children's manga in 1982,[4] and the first Osamu Tezuka Culture Award in 1997. In March 2008, Japan's Foreign Ministry appointed Doraemon as the nation's first "anime ambassador."[5] Ministry spokesman explained the novel decision as an attempt to help people in other countries to understand Japanese anime better and to deepen their interest in Japanese culture."[6] The Foreign Ministry action confirms that Doraemon has come to be considered a Japanese cultural icon. In 2002, the anime character was acclaimed as an Asian Hero in a special feature survey conducted by Time Asia magazine.

KRAKATAU "The Legend Continues"

" Krakatau"

Who hasn't heard about Mount Krakatau? Located in the Sunda Strait between the islnads of Java and Sumatera, Krakatau was known for its massive eruption in 1883, killing approximately 40.000 people. The old Krakatau erupted in 416 AD. By 1830, there mountains were formed in the location. Mt. Rakata, Mt Danan, MT Perbuatan. These three mountains eruped in 1883 and left a small part of Mt. Rakata behind. In 1927, almost right in the middle of where the ancient Krakatau was, Mt. Anaka Krakatau was "born" and has been growing ever since.
